1962 Epiphone Coronet SB-533, Serial Number 87593 Crafted in the Kalamazoo factory alongside its -branded counterparts and shipped on October 23, 1962, this Epiphone Coronet SB-533 shares the same materials, construction, and components found on models like the SG-bodied Les Paul Junior of this era. Finished in a vivid, unfaded cherry, the Coronetlike the Junioris an electric guitar with no frills and no fuss: a single dogear P-90, one volume, one tone, and everything you can throw at it. At just over five and a half pounds, this Coronet is a lively, responsive guitar that delivers far more versatility than its minimalist design suggests. The single P-90 (8.02k) is tight and punchy, with the ability to twang, snarl, or mellow out depending on touch and settings. The neck has a fast, comfortable Slim D profile typical of 1962 but with enough shoulder to feel full in the hand. The dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard adds both warmth and visual contrast to the rich cherry finish. The guitar remains all original aside from a few minor, practical updates. The original lightning-bar bridgewhich had begun to warpis included in the case; an aged Custom Shop replacement was installed for proper intonation and playability. The original pickguard (included in the case) broke at the bass-side horn, and a carefully aged replica was fabricated and installed in its place. An additional aluminum strap button has been added below the heel on the back of the body. A replaced low-E tuner ferrule and a slightly bent G-string tuner shaftfully functionalare the only other component notes. Cosmetically, the guitar shows light checking and gentle playwear consistent with honest use, with no significant damage. The finish retains excellent color and depth, and all electronics are original and untouched, including the Centralab potentiometers (1346147) and Sprague orange disc capacitor. The original gray-and-blue chipboard case is in very good condition and is included alongside a new Epiphone USA Coronet hardshell case. A clean, well-preserved Kalamazoo-built CoronetEpiphones no-frills sonic Swiss Army knife. This guitar has received a professional setup and thorough inspection from Certified Vintage and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.
